■ Doosan Dong-A obtains two certifications for its safety and health management system.
To create a safe and pleasant work environment, Doosan Dong-A constructed an occupational safety and health management system and was awarded the KOSHA18001 certificate by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) and the OHSAS 18001 certificate by the DNV certification body last year. The company won both domestic (KOSHA) and overseas (OHSAS) certifications for its health and safety management system.
The joint certificate awards ceremony, held on January 27, 2011, was attended by not only Doosan Dong-A directors and employees but also representatives of its on-site suppliers. The attendees had a meaningful time encouraging one another and celebrating the achievements that all the workers on site as well as the certification taskforce had accomplished through joint efforts.
Kim Byeong-Jin, CEO of KOSHA and Ahn In-Kyoon, Country Manager for DNV GL Business Assurance, talked about the high levels of Doosan Dong-A’s EHS practices in their speeches. They praised the people of Doosan Dong-A for their voluntary efforts to change their perceptions about safety and the environment and making the practices part of their daily lives.
With a mindset that certification is only the beginning, Doosan Dong-A plans to enhance its EHS awareness and make all of its business sites accident-free where every worker voluntarily puts the EHS guidelines into practice.
